Understanding the basics of Filtering

Using the Filter allows you to view all applications by varying fields that are input throughout the system. You are able to search for one or multiple conditions.

Open and Close Brackets allow for you to input a “(“ or “)” respectively around conjunctives that are appropriately inclusive or exclusive of the other functions. Insert “(“ or “)” into the appropriate fields to allow for the “AND” and “OR” functions to group correctly.

Field allows for you to select the field that is relevant to the conditions of your filter. Some of these fields do not list as you would expect so you may have to select varying operators and phrasing of the condition to allow for this to filter correctly.

Operator dictates by which method it will locate the condition in the set field. You can choose to rule out specific conditions or include results only lesser/greater than a specific number where your field is a number. If you’re unsure of spelling or phrasing of your condition, take a minimal approach with the Operator function noting that “Contains” is a filter that allows for all results that have that condition as part of the word or number or otherwise as you are searching.

Condition this is the condition that you are filtering. This could be a number, word, name, single letter or anything as appropriate to the field you are searching.

Join is the function that allows you to set joint conditions or search for results that include either condition.

Some examples are below: Note, if no brackets are manually placed, the whole series will be grouped.

The above filter will result with all those attending Agoonoree with the last name Jones. If the AND was replaced with an OR function, this would result include all applicants attending Agoonoree as well as all applicants for Jones regardless of the event they are attending.

The above filter will result with all venturer (V) applications that are active. It removes the withdrawn and not proceeding applications. To add to these filters:

Using the OR function to join the fields, the above filter will result in all venturer applications that are not withdrawn or not proceeding. Using the OR function without a grouping means that it will forget all previous conditions for the following criteria. In this case, all Service Rover (SR) applications regardless of status will appear. To change this:

Add brackets around the fields to group the conditions. This will now result with all venturer and rover applications that are active.

RESULT LIST

The Result List will produce all applications that meet the filter criteria. You will automatically be redirected to this screen when hitting the “Search” button in the Filter page. Where no filters are listed, all applications in the system under your delegation will be listed.

Results are listed and can be ordered in the fields of ID Number, Name (Surname), Role, Phone Number, Event Name, Branch and Status. Simply click the field name at the top of the list to sort in order of that field.
