Flexible Volunteering Pilot Resources
In 2026 Scouts Queensland, along with two other Scout branches, joined the Scouts Australia pilot of a new flexible Scout volunteering model built on teamwork, shared leadership and robust research. The primary aim of the pilot is to help recruit and retain more adult volunteers so we can provide better programs for more young people in scouting.
Surveying in 2025 told us that people want to help, but they also need flexibility, practical support and training that fits around their lives. Our Scout training has been reimagined so it's shorter, simpler and more focussed on learning on the job while engaged in supporting scouting activities. The teams-based approach shares the load and enables everyone who wants to make a difference to get involved.
