Campsite Rules - Eprapah Campsite

Foreword 

Eprapah was purchased by The Boy Scout Association, Queensland Branch in 1928. The site was used for Leader Training and host a visit by BP the World Chief Scout in 1933. Charles S Snow was instrumental in purchasing and transforming the site into a dedicated Leader Training venue.
Eprapah is now primarily used for Environmental Education as part of the Scout Award Scheme.
Eprapah is a world recognised SCENES Site (Scout Centre of Excellence for Nature and Environment).

LOCATION

The site is located southeast of Brisbane in Redland City, 5 km south of Cleveland on the corner of Cleveland Redland Bay Road and Colburn Avenue, Victoria Point. The main entry is at 424 Cleveland Bay Road.
The caravan camping area and Bunkhouse entry is at Gate 3/330 Colburn Avenue, Victoria Point.

ENVIRONMENT

The Scout Association is dedicated to the protection of fauna and flora at Eprapah continually controling weeds, replacing them with native plant species. Please do not introduce exotic plants to Eprapah.
Koalas, wallaby's, echidnas, possums, goannas, water dragons and many species of birds have been recorded in Eprapah. There is a White Belled Sea Eagle nest on site.
TREES DO NOT CUT DOWN ANY TREES dead or alive
Please do not feed or interfere with any native animals or birds.

EPRAPAH CAMP SITE FACILITIES and RULES

Bookings are required for all persons wishing to visit Eprapah for both day use and overnight stays. 
Members of the public wanting to stay at Eprapah Campsite will need to have a Supporter of Scouting Membership.
Parking and Camping must be done in the designated areas only. 
Camping is limited to a maximum of 14 continuous days during any one stay. The patron must leave the site after the 14th day. 
Following any stay, there must be a minimum two (2) days away from any Scouts Queensland property, before being allowed to return.

SNAKES

You may see snakes, pythons, green tree and whip snakes are the most common.
If you do see a snake take the right steps-LARGE ONES-in the other direction.

DOGS

• The campsite is a designated flora and fauna park hence pets must not be permitted to run loose and must be either on a lead or within pens at all times. Owners of pets are to clean up after their pets.

WATER

All taps on site are connected to town water supply and potable.
Please conserve water.

TOILETS / SHOWERS

• The amenities block has toilets and hot showers available for use by campers.
• Toilet paper, hand soap and paper towels are supplied. Please ask if there is a shortage.
• Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult when using amenities.
• Clean up after yourselves within amenity blocks using the hose/mops/brooms and cleaning materials provided upon your departure.
• Lighting in the amenity block is designed to be left on during the night. Please ensure that the lights are turned off during the day and prior to departure.
• Do not flush baby nappies, sanitary items, cans, bottles etc. down our septic system. Use the bins provided.

FIRES

DO NOT LEAVE FIRES UNATTENED
• BE AWARE OF SEASONAL FIRE HAZARDS
• No FIRES allowed during fire bans
• No fires allowed with in 10 M of any building
• Never leave fires unattended
• Cooking fires allowed in drums or portable fire places only

RUBBISH

• Please take all rubbish with you. Under no circumstances, that rubbish should be buried or left behind.
Additional charges may apply when your booked site is left in an unsatisfactory condition.

BEWARE

• Scrub ticks may be active depending on seasonal changes. To avoid ticks, use aerosol insect repellents.
• The lower section of Eprapah Creek is salt water with mangroves and salt marsh swamps creating a mosquito problem after rain or high tidal movements. To avoid being bitten use roll on or aerosol insect repellents.
• Jumping ants may also be present and give a nasty sting that may produce an allergic reaction in some people.
• Sand flies and midges may also be a problem, use insect repellent.

DRUGS and ALCOHOL

• Smoking is prohibited in all buildings and within 10 M of any buildings.
• NO smoking in front of youth members.
• Butts must be extinguished and disposed of safely.
• All users of Campsite and Activity Centres must adhere to the Scouts Australia, Queensland Branch Inc ruling in relation to the consumption of alcohol. The consumption of alcoholic beverages and other performance affecting drugs by Adults Members prior to or during youth on site activities is prohibited.
• NO alcohol beverages are to be consumed when Scouts are in the vicinity.
The possession and or use of any banned or illegal substances is STRICTLY PROHIBITED

VEHICLES

No unregistered or uninsured motor vehicles or motor bikes to be driven on site.
SPEED LIMITS OF  10 KM/HR AROUND THE CAMPSITE IS IN FORCE TO PROTECT OUR NATIVE ANIMALS AND OTHER CAMPERS. 
PLEASE ADVISE ALL DRIVERS OF THE SPEED RESTRICTION
