Campsite Rules - Karingal Campsite

Introduction

Thank you for choosing to share our beautiful campsite with us.
The prime purpose of the campsite is as a youth camping and activity centre and caravan and other camping by external parties.

Access and Roads 

QLD Road Rules apply at this campsite
● Speed limit on internal roads is 10 kph –there may be children or wildlife present and caution must be exercised at all times.
● Vehicle traffic is restricted to marked roads, parking areas and caravan camping sites except with management permission.

Buildings and Amenities 

● No table and chairs, etc. to be removed from buildings.
● Please do not waste the power, turn off lights and flood lights when not required.
● All buildings hired for exclusive use must be clean and tidy, tables and chairs stacked and doors and windows closed and locked, prior to departure. Kitchen(s) are to be mopped out, refrigerators / freezers emptied, cleaned, turned off and left open... All utensils to be cleaned and placed back into their respective places.
● All breakages, damages or losses are the hirer’s responsibility and will be charged to the account which must be settled with Management prior to departure unless prior arrangements are approved.

Bunk Beds

● To comply with the Fair Trading (Safety Standards) 2011, the Australian Standard AS/NZS 4200:2012 “Bunk beds and other elevated beds” and Scouts Queensland Policy:
● Only persons 9 years of age and over may use the upper bunk beds.
● No playing on bunks at any time and do not move any mattress from where you found it.

Camping

● Use designated fireplaces and the campfire area. Seek approval from Management for other areas if required. Strict rural fires regulations apply to our property and must be observed.
● All fires must be in the concrete or steel fire rings provided and fires must be completely extinguished by dousing with water before leaving.
● Campsites are to be left clean and tidy along with the clearing of all obstructions including temporary fireplaces and firewood to allow a clear path for mowing without endangering machinery, operators or bystanders.
Camping is limited to a maximum of 14 continuous days during any one stay. The patron must leave the site after the 14th day. 
Following any stay, there must be a minimum two (2) days away from any Scouts Queensland property, before being allowed to return.

Caravans and Motorhomes

● Caravan camping is not permitted as a person’s normal place of residence on either a temporary or permanent basis.
● When connecting to 10 amp power outlets only approved caravan 10 to 15 amp adapters are to be used.
● Caravan sullage is to be broadcast on the ground via a sock on the end of the sullage hose.
● There is no waste dump point facility at the campsite. All such waste must be taken from site. The nearest Dump Point is on Old Cleveland Road at Capalaba.
Camping is limited to a maximum of 14 continuous days during any one stay and then the patron must leave the site.


Ablution Blocks

● Children under 10 years old must be accompanied when using amenities.
● Clean up after yourselves within amenity blocks using the mops / brooms provided.
● Do not flush baby nappies, sanitary pads, cans bottles etc down our septic system. Use the bins provided. Any blockages which require a plumber will be charged to you if you are deemed to be the cause for a plumber to be called.

Drugs and Alcohol

● Smoking is prohibited in all buildings, and within 4 metres of any building entrance on the site. Butts must be disposed of safely.
● All users of the Campsite and Activity Centre must adhere to the Scouts Australia, Queensland Branch Inc. ruling in relation to the consumption of alcohol. The consumption of alcoholic beverages and other performance affecting drugs by Adult Members prior to or during a day-to-day or adventurous activity is prohibited. No alcoholic beverages are to be consumed when Scouts are in the vicinity.
● The possession and or use of any banned or illegal substances is strictly prohibited

Emergency Procedures 

● Emergency evacuation diagrams showing the buildings escape routes are located in each building
● The fire alarms are local only. In the event of an emergency, you will have to dial 000 and advise.

All emergencies must be reported immediately to the onsite Warden/s or Caretaker/s.
● The emergency assembly area is the car park outside of Cooinda, the turning area outside of Bimbimbi and Activity 1 area. The Leader is responsible for the safe evacuation of their group.

Firearms

● Firearms or any other offensive weapons are strictly prohibited.

Flora and Fauna 

● The campsite is a designated flora and fauna park hence green timber may not be cut or damaged without prior approval.
● Please do not handle or feed the wildlife, they live here in their natural habitat and enjoy good health. Please do not upset their lifestyle.

Incidents 

● Scouting: All incidents must be reported and documented as per Queensland Branch Scouting Instructions
● Non Scouting: An incident report is to be completed in duplicate with the original left with Management covering any accident / incident on the property at any time. Forms available from the office on site.

Noise

● The campsite is situated in semi-rural environments. Our neighbours are residential and the area has generally low ambient noise level. In particular, amplified music is not suitable for this environment
● Respect other people using the Park as well as our neighbours – keep noise levels down (to conversation level) after 9:30pm. It is expected that “Lights out” and all quiet will be no later than 10:00pm.
● Multiple activities are encouraged across the campsite. Each party is to ensure they observe the privacy of other users and not infringe upon other tenant’s sites / activities without their respective permission.

Parking 

● Ensure that all roadways and tracks are clear at all times. Please do not park vehicles to obstruct access to the track/road system or other designated no go or no parking areas.
● Tracks must remain clear for emergency vehicle entry at all times.

Pets

● The campsite is a designated flora and fauna park hence dogs must not be permitted to run loose and must be at all times either on a lead or within pens. Dogs are the only pet allowed on site and owners of dogs are to clean up after them.

Rubbish 

A number of bins are provided for your use. Rubbish to be placed in plastic liners in the bins during your stay. Liners to be tied securely and placed in the industrial bin in Cooinda Carpark, or you could take your rubbish home with you.
● Please return bin to their original location (where you found it) when finished.

Water Supply 

● Drinking water is available at any tap on the park.
● Water in the dam is for recreational use only. This water is not to be used for drinking or cooking.
Please conserve water.


Your cooperation in adhering to these rules is greatly appreciated. Any persons found to be in contravention of any of the above mentioned rules could be directed to vacate the property.
